Our roots

What started many years ago as the Grabher family's mobile greengrocery business with horse and cart developed over time into a small yet accomplished family business in Frastanz. Wilhelm Grabher laid the foundations of the current 11er company in 1941.

11er - The name of a house

The unique company name can be traced back to an ancient regional custom. Thus many years ago it was customary in Vorarlberg to differentiate between persons or farms by using "house names". According to historical records the Grabher family got its house name more than 150 years ago.

One of the first generation of the family had 11 sons and was consequently given the unusual name "11er". This house name extended throughout the family history and the "11er" name of the present day is not just a permanent part of our packaging but remains the emblem of the family behind it.

We love  what we do

Regardless of whether our day to day work or the products we produce are concerned - we are driven by the passion for potatoes. We are convinced that only the best possible quality is sufficient. That is why we are working meticulously all the time to make improvements and to create new products.

This is how we are able to MAKE THE MOST OF THE POTATO.

For producing our 11er potato specialities we draw on our background and our roots for inspiration. We are proud to have been a family-managed business for generations and we live this to the full every day.

From the field to the plate

There are more than 5000 varieties of potato worldwide. However one potato is not the same as another. In order to ensure that our products have the distinctive golden-yellow fried colour we only use potatoes which have yellow flesh from the best growing regions along the Danube, the March and from the southern Bavarian area.

Here we rely upon the many years of experience of our 11er farmers. They have been looking after the cultivation of our potatoes and their harvesting for very many years now. They ensure that the quality of our potatoes remains constant. This is how we are able to get the most out of the potato.

Our Potatoes

Lady Amarilla

Lady Amarilla

The Lady Amarilla was originally developed from the Agria. Its characteristics and shape of its tubers for example make it perfectly suited for "Our Best“ French fries.

Fontane

Fontane

The Fontane is the third of the bunch and was also originally grown from the Agria. With its vibrant sun yellow flesh colour it completes our assortment of potatoes.

Agria

Agria

The Agria is one of the German varieties of potato with the longest tradition. It convinces with its fine flavour as well as its pure deep yellow-coloured flesh.

Romina

Romina

The Romina is the Austrian among our potato varieties. It is the youngest of them all because it matures early and the crop can therefore be harvested before the others.

A treat from Austria

For Austrians enjoying food has an important part to play because we are a people of gourmets and hosts. We love good food and enjoy it even more when sharing it with family and friends. Austrian cuisine is varied and tasty; it has more to offer than just dumplings and Viennese Schnitzel.

Above all the potato plays an important part in the cuisine of the Alpine republic. Irrespective of whether boiled, fried or roast, as a purée or potato Rösti - the potato is an integral part of Austrian cuisine.

We use our background as a source of inspiration for production of the 11er potato specialities. Using regional recipes and indigenous ingredients such as e.g. Tyrolean bacon or Styrian pumpkin seeds we put the finest delicacies from Austria on your plate.

Experience the 11er source of inspiration...

Mature Alpine cheese from Vorarlberg

Some of the oldest Alpine dairies in our region are found on the green mountain slopes. Here the traditional hand-made Alpine cheese of the Vorarlberg region is produced and brought to maturity and full development of its aroma in the cheese cellar. With its mild full-flavoured taste Vorarlberg Alpine cheese is an integral part of our gourmet culture.

Savoury Tyrolean bacon

The Tyrolean classic of bacon varieties; mildly smoked and dried in the fresh mountain air lends our potato Rösti a full-flavoured taste and puts a slice of Tyrol on your plate.

 Image

Cream cheese with fresh herbs

We use only the creamiest and lightest cream cheese. Together with our own select blend of fresh garden herbs it goes to make the ideal filling for our crispy potato Rösti.

 Image

Fresh spring onions

Their succulent green colour provides freshness and colour for our cuisine and refines our products. With their mild full-flavoured taste spring onions are the ideal ingredient for our potato Rösti specialities.

 Image

Styrian pumpkin seeds

Styrian pumpkin seeds are a traditional Austrian speciality. Due to their dark-green colour and strong flavour they are a feast for every palate. They lend our crispy croquettes a delicate touch and that certain something.

 Image

Delicate Alpine butter

The Alpine butter we use to refine our products is golden-yellow and easy to spread.

 Image

Aromatic rosemary

Rosemary is surely the most popular herb in Austrian cuisine. Its distinctive flavour makes it the perfect accompaniment for potatoes.

 Image

Nutty sesame

One of the oldest oil-bearing plants in the world sesame lends every dish a subtly nutty touch. Sesame is frequently used in Austrian cuisine.

 Image

Choice almonds

Whole, coarse or finely ground - almonds have their own unique and inimitable flavour. Our crispy croquettes have a crispy-crunchy almond coating around a potato purée enhanced with roast almonds.

 Image

Delicate aromatic spices

The Austrian spices range from Hungarian peppers through horse radish, parsley and chives to the finest Alpine herbs. For our recipes we make use of the complete range of Austrian spices - and with no flavour enhancers whatsoever. As far as we are concerned only pure unadulterated flavours count.
